Porsche Taycan in South Africa during hot weather tests
The fully electric Porsche Taycan deliveries will start taking place from the end of this year and already over 20 000 people have put down 2 500 Euros each to secure their places in the queue.
The Fully Charged Show was recently given exclusive access to get Jonny Smith behind the wheel of the new first Porsche all electric car – the Taycan – and drive it full throttle from 0-124 mph (200 km/h) dozens of times. Repeatability, a good test of a car’s efficiency and durability.
Jonny did over 30 hard launches to over 200 km/h to help prove the durability of the electric vehicle.
Prices for this Taycan Electric 800 Volt Model in the video below will be around £130 000 with cheaper versions kicking off at around £65 000 within 18 months of the car’s launch in late 2019.
During development of this EV Porsche engineers took advantage of the summer in the Southern Hemisphere and conducted performance tests in South Africa, along with final adjustments in terms of continuous performance and reproducibility.
