A SARU Duty Judicial Officer has found Eastern Province Kings outside centre JP du Plessis guilty of striking a player.
The Kings midfielder was red carded following an incident in the 46th minute of their Absa Currie Cup Premier Division clash against the Toyota Free State Cheetahs last Friday evening at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth.
Referee Quinton Immelman sent the player off with a straight red card and Du Plessis appeared on Monday before a SARU Duty Judicial Officer, advocate Vusi Msiwa. The player pleaded guilty.
Following the hearing, advocate Msiwa ruled that the offence (Law 10.4 a) was in the lower entry range. After taking the guilty plea and the mitigating evidence into account, advocate Msiwa decided not to impose any additional sanction. The player may therefore be considered for selection for the next round of Absa Currie Cup matches this coming weekend.
