If a Fat Boy, Street Bob or Sportster is your thing then Port Elizabeth’s Pine Lodge is the place to be this weekend when the Harley Davidsons roar into town for the fourth Harley Davidson Coastal Reunion.
According to the hosting club spokesperson, Andrew Southby of the Black Baron Motor Cycle Club, more than a 150 Harleys are expected to congregate at Pine Lodge over the weekend. “A Harley is more than a bike – it is about freedom, passion and ultimately the experience. And it is exactly this experience that we want to share with the people of Nelson Mandela Bay.”
According to Harley Davidson Experience Demo Rig Manager, Luis da Silva, the Harley Davidson Experience Truck with its precious cargo of eight of the latest 110 Anniversary demo models arrived safely in Nelson Mandela Bay late last night after some delay brought about by the strikes in the Western Cape. Da Silva says that this weekend is all about bringing the Harley Davidson experience to those clients that do not have easy access to dealers and about sharing the Harley experience and life style with the public.
Dale Tucker from Pine Lodge said that this will be the 3rd year that they will be hosting the Harley Davidson reunion at Pine Lodge. “We are delighted that Harley Davidson has made the Pine Lodge their home again and look forward to a weekend of energy, sounds and sights!”
Southby said that most bikers were to arrive by midday on Friday and will depart after breakfast on Sunday.
A mass ride to VW Autopavillion will take place on Saturday morning at 10:00 followed by the annual Bikini Bike Wash for Charity, Harley Davidson Demo rides and live entertainment by well known Jack Rabbit Slims and The Tom Boys.
Harley Davidson owners also have the opportunity to have their bikes serviced by the Tyger Valley Harley Davidson technicians on site during the weekend.
And if you have always dreamt to be in the seat of a Harley but don’t have a bikers licence – don’t despair as the Rig comes with a Harley strapped to a frame, known as the “Jump Start”, that will give you the look, smell and feel without having to venture out onto the road.
Entrance is free to all day time activities. Live entertainment and Jack Daniels promotions will take place at The Island each night – the public is welcome to mingle and join the fun for a nominal cover charge of R30 per person.
