Ongoing heavy rain expected that could result in localized flooding

The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality’s Joint Operations Centre, established on Wednesday to deal with flood-related incidents, is currently on alert as ongoing heavy rain is predicted for the weekend resulting in localized flooding.

Disaster Management Officials of the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality is currently working hard in suburbs affected by the rising water levels to assist with evacuations to nearby community facilities. Those accommodated in community halls due to flooded shacks or homes receive blankets, mattresses and food stuffs such as affected residents are requested to be patient as the need for assistance is increasing.

  • Seaview Road
  • Lakefarm Road

Due to the localized flooding, the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality would like to advise motorists to be extremely careful and adhere to safe following distances when driving as the road conditions could be demanding.
