Port Elizabeth‘s Mikaela Oosthuizen – a Miss SA Teen 2010 and Miss SA Finalist 2016, moved one step closer to becoming Miss Mamelodi Sundowns on 18 November 2016.
The Eastern Cape semi-finals of this competition took place at the Regent Hotel in East London on Friday 18 November and Mikaela has now been selected as one of the Mamelodi Sundowns princesses to represent the Eastern Cape in the finals taking place in mid-December this year.
The Miss Mamelodi Sundowns pageant has been running for six years and it has grown into one of the most sought-after titles in South Africa. Not only does it boast the largest prize package in the country, but many contestants compete in, and have won, the title of Miss SA. The winner will receive R200 000 and a new car, the 1st Princess collects R175 000, the 2nd Princess collects R150 000, and each of the two provincial winners is given R60 000.
“What makes Miss Mamelodi Sundowns so different from other pageants, is that we ensure that each of our nine provinces is represented in the final. There are beautiful South African woman in all corners of our country,” said Mamelodi Sundowns CEO Sizwe Nzimande.
“Miss Mamelodi Sundowns is about more than just beauty, it’s also about using soccer, a male-dominated platform, to empower women from across the country,” concluded Nzimande
Winner of Miss Mamelodi Sundowns 2015, Tshegofatso Monggae, won after entering the competition for a 3rd time.
After being crowned on Friday Mikaela said; “I am so blessed and so thankful to the Mamelodi Sundowns brand for all that they are doing to empower women and looking forward to the Nationals coming up.”
