It was nice to see Port Elizabeth’s Guerilla Gardeners (The Secret Sowers) getting some publicity in the Sunday Crimes Lifestyle section this past Sunday, 19 February. The Secret Sowers have a mission to plant indigenous plants, fruits and vegetables on Port Elizabeth’s forgotten and neglected open patches.
Now Uitenhage social and business partners, Jazz Town residents and residents of surrounding areas are gearing up to green Uitenhage’s Van Rooyen street pavements from 2 to 6 April 2012 alongside Ward 48 Councillor, Kenneth Kohl.
Join the volunteers by assembling every morning at 07h00, on the corner of Van Rooyen and Abbot Road, Uitenhage.
All volunteers should bring along their garden tools such as spades, forks, rakes, picks or wheelbarrows.
If you cannot make it to help out then assist by sponsoring the project with:
- one plant / tree
- one refuse bag
- taking ownership of gardens
- helping to maintain completed gardens
- spreading the word
Change is coming! One community at a time!
