The Nelson Mandela Bay Business Chamber welcomes the massive investment by Air Products into the Coega IDZ. The planned Air Separation Unit is a key enabling service to industry for the security of the region’s gas supply into the future.
The Chamber welcomes the additions of new technologies and job skills to build capacity for industrial development that is in line with the industrial development strategy of the Nelson Mandela Bay region and the Eastern Cape.
The region has long been underserviced in gas supply, and the automotive and manufacturing sectors in particular stand to benefit, as do the new and growing sectors of agro-processing and light manufacturing.
On behalf of the business community, we thank Air Products sincerely for the confidence they have shown in the Coega IDZ, Nelson Mandela Bay and the Eastern Cape in bringing this key investment-supported facility to the Bay.
We are delighted to note that Air Products will focus on ensuring both up- and downstream opportunities, enterprise development and community investment programmes. We look forward to seeing this commitment realised through the five-year phased project that is scalable to the needs of the Eastern Cape.
With the Air Separation Unit planned for early 2013, and with completion and commission planned for late 2014, Air Products could stand as a beacon in Zone 3 of the Coega IDZ.
We wish the company prosperity into the future.
