Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality’s world class Integrated Public Transport System (IPTS) received a thumbs up and a commitment that the National Department of Transport (NDoT) will do its best to assist the municipality where possible to iron out implementation difficulties.
Minister of Transport Ben Martins made this significant commitment to the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality during a visit as part of his department’s responsibility of ascertaining progress and development of major transport developments in Nelson Mandela Bay.
The municipality is currently in the process of building infrastructure for a Libhongolethu bus route on Standford Road, a project that will provide an estimated 450 jobs and dramatically increase the commuter numbers using this system. This will be followed by construction of the Njoli and Motherwell routes as well as routes to the Western suburbs. All these projects will provide job opportunities during the construction phase in addition to the thousands of job opportunities already created with the IPTS implementation.
Editors Notes: Come on NMB Communications, just exactly what ‘vital information’ is contained in this press release? What about time frames, estimated dates of completion, successes to date, number of passengers to date, estimated savings, cessation of supplier hostilities, release of money from National Government – the list goes on.
