Residents of ward 41 in Nelson Mandela Bay in the Eastern Cape have embarked on a march to the municipality officers over poor service delivery in the area.
They handed over a memorandum to the municipality detailing their demands which include construction of houses, relocation of Vastrap informal settlement and the rectification of houses at KwaDwesi Extension.
Community leader, Vuyani Siziba, says, “All people from stress areas, flood areas, under power line they are being relocated to that side of the land, but the problem is when these people are being relocated there is nothing prepared form them. There are no bucket systems in place; there is no water or sanitation in place; there is no electricity. We said it can’t be right.”
The residents say they’ve been pleading with the municipality for a long time.
