A break from league action sees focus shift back to the Nedbank Cup with the round of 16 fixtures taking place this week.
The first round saw many upsets, with three out of four semi-finalists from last season exiting on the first hurdle.
The action kicks off with two fixtures, as Bidvest Wits travel to Thohoyandou Stadium to meet Black Leopards, who will be looking for a second big scalp after seeing to Orlando Pirates’demise in the same venue last time out.
All eyes will be in the Mother City on Friday, with first-division outfit, Cape Umoya United hosting Mbombela United at Athlone Stadium, while Cape Town City welcome Highlands Park to the Cape Town Stadium.
Saturday is a PSL vs NFD day, as Witbank Spurs host Golden Golden Arrows in one of two afternoon fixtures – the other one featuring Chippa United and Tshakuma at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.
The day’s other fixture is a late kick-off where Bloemfontein Celtic welcome Richard Bay FC, who will be baying for more blood, having seen off Phunya Sele Sele’s rivals, Free State Stars in the first round.
Port Elizabeth will see more action on Sunday, as it is where Cape outfit, The Magic FC will be hosting Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs, who face their second third tier opponents in as many rounds. At the same time, Jomo Cosmos welcome TS Galaxy to Makhulong Stadium.
