As SA music legends Prime Circle prepare to celebrate 13 successful years in the music industry and embark on their ever popular summer tour, Eastern Cape based fans are once again reassured that they will not be left out.
“We love performing in the Eastern Cape. We are always so well received by the fans and we promised to never leave them out in the cold” said leader singer Ross Learmonth. Fans will once again be treated to a musical feast spanning 13 years, with possibly a few new tracks thrown in the mix, as the guys have been on lock down in the studio lately working on some new material for eager fans.
“What will make visiting the Eastern Cape even more special this time, is that we will honour and remember our great leader Tata Madiba as we travel through the province of his birth. We met Nelson Mandela when we were doing the 46664 concert a few years back. He had such a good sense of humour. He stood up to meet us and told us he wanted a job. We replied that we could fire our drummer and he replied that he’d play the drums for us. We will never forget that special encounter with Madiba” added Learmonth.
13 years down the line, Prime Circle have kept their brand of rasping, layered, melodic rock on mainstream airwaves, bringing the heavier stuff to listeners who might not have found it without their help. Ross Learmonth’s is now one of the most recognisable voices in South African music. But for the band, it’s not about rockstardom – it’s really still all about the fans and the songs. Says the lead singer, “Without the fans, we would be nothing. And I don’t ever want to do anything else. Creating music for a living is a privilege, and we never forget that,” said Learmonth.
Eastern Cape fans will have two venues to choose from: 20 December at Numbers Dance Club, East London. Tickets are R120 each 22 December at The Vodacom Amphitheatre, Boardwalk Casino, Port Elizabeth. Tickets are R160 each.
