An 80-year-old woman was killed by her 26-year-old grandson after a disagreement over cow dung in Nqancule Village, Ngqamakhwe on Thursday, Eastern Cape police said.
“It is believed that the deceased was not happy that the suspect used her dried cow dung [amalongwe] as she was going to use it during the day,” police spokesperson Captain Jackson Manatha said.
“The suspect is alleged to have hit the deceased against the wall until she died.”
The woman’s other grandson, 11, who was in the house at the time, alerted the villagers about the murder.
Police found the 26-year-old on the scene and arrested him, Manatha said.
He is expected to appear in the Ngqamakhwe Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
