PORT ELIZABETH – Alleged wife killer Christopher Panayiotou will know next month when he will stand trial for the murder of his wife Jayde.
The Port Elizabeth businessman is accused of hiring two men to kidnap and kill his wife earlier this year.
Panayiotou, who is been denied bail twice, made a brief appearance in the Port Elizabeth magistrates court today along with the suspected triggerman in his wife’s killing.
Christopher Panayiotou and the alleged hitman, Sizwezakhe Vumazonke, will be back in the dock on 28 September.
State prosecutor Marius Stander says on that date the matter will be transferred to the high court and a trial date will be set.
A third accused in the matter has been granted immunity from prosecution.
Luthando Siyoli is believed to have helped police in their investigation and has turned state witness.
The National Prosecuting Authority said it’s ready to set a date for the start of the trial.
Panayiotou has been denied bail on two attempts.
