The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality will be issuing a call for proposals from reputable welfare organisations on how best to manage and upgrade the Elizabeth Stuurman, Alan Hendricks, Adcock Homes and Bethelsdorp Old Age Homes within the next couple of months.
The Council of the municipality approved this decision during a full sitting yesterday (Tuesday, 31 March) in line with the Municipal Finance Management Act (MFMA) that determines that council must dispose of these facilities to institutions registered with the Department of Social Development.
A long term lease of 15 years will be awarded to the successful welfare organisation or organisations when the municipality concluded the process required to make the hand over a success. In the interim BASA Homes will be tasked with the management of the properties on behalf of the municipality.
