Mouth-watering bagels await Goodnight Market patrons – MyPR.co.za

Mouth-watering bagels await Goodnight Market patrons:

First-time exhibitors Jack’s Bagels will treat visitors to a wide array of delicious delicacies at the SPAR Goodnight Market in the Tramways building in Port Elizabeth on Thursday.

The newly established trendy deli, situated at the Bloomingdales Lifestyle Village and Nursery in Main Road, Walmer, is already a hot favourite among locals.

“Jack’s Bagels is the first of its kind in PE. We specialise in bagels and artisanal breads that are inspired by the excitement of the New York bagel culture,” said co-owner J-Lee Human.

“We have created our own South African/American style bagel that has been a winner so far.”

Human, who owns the bakery and deli with husband John, added that they were very excited to be part of the Goodnight Market on Thursday.

“This will be our very first market and we know it won’t be our last. We think it’s such a one-of-a-kind event that showcases what the city has to offer, especially small businesses. They are just as hungry as you are to try unique products.”

Visitors to the market can look forward to a variety of bagels with mouth-watering and flavoursome filling combinations that, according to Human, are “out of this ‘hole’ entire world”.

“Our most successful product is the bagel itself, made with sesame or poppy seeds, or our personal favourite, the chocolate chip.

“Other than that they’re great with some of our famous fillings, such as the chicken, honey and mustard with freshly sliced avocado and the fillet steak, which is a winner too.”

By exhibiting at the market, Human said they hoped to expose people to the South African bagel culture and to introduce them to some of their unique flavours to delight their taste buds.

Apart from Jack’s Bagels, the Portuguese-inspired oBRIGAdo will introduce their small Brazilian delicacies and treats to the market.

The PE-based company specialises in brigadeiros (or briga for short), which are handmade Brazilian toffee-like truffles – a true delight for anyone with a sweet tooth.

Visitors will also be able to enjoy the soothing sounds of local musician Devon van Driel while indulging in delicious artisanal food, socialising and sipping on craft beer, gin or wine.

Doors open at 5pm and the entrance fee is R20, with all proceeds going to charity. There will be ample parking available under the highway and behind the building.

Visit the Goodnight Market’s Facebook page for photos from the last market.
