Safer Festive Season operations and high police visibility are still the order of the day in Port Elizabeth.
“This weekend police arrested 105 suspects within the seven stations in the cluster,” local police said.
“The Suspects were arrested for drug related cases, drunken driving, housebreaking, unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition, attempted murder, carjacking, shoplifting and robbery.
“Twenty six people were arrested for drug related cases.”
Port Elizabeth police also said that on Friday, they held a joint roadblock comprising of SAPS, Provincial and Metro Traffic on the N2 freeway in the Kabega Park policing area.
“Three hundred and twenty one vehicles were searched (321) and 35 fines to the value of R29 300 were issued,” police said.
“One motor vehicle was also confiscated due to it being unroadworthy.”
Police said that officers in the Mount Road cluster will continue with these duties as many people are still enjoying the last days of their festive vacation.
