Join Port Elizabeth and MyPE in congratulating Mover and Shaker, Marsha Kerrigan from STEAM CLEANING SERVICES:
Marsha Kerrigan, daughter of late Mr Kevin Kerrigan who passed away in 2007 after losing a battle to cancer, has taught children the value of being an entrepreneur in society as well as raised money in support of the Igazi Foundation, with the help of her grade 9 Collegiate Girls’ High School, EMS learners. All this to honour the memory of her father an entrepreneur, who started the carpet cleaning industry in the Port Elizabeth in 1978, Steam Cleaning Services.
The project started in 2010 and the grade 9 learners of that year were asked to set up and run a business for 10 days and then to use a portion of their profit to pay “tax”, as in a normal business. R5 000 was handed over to the Cancer Association in memory of Mr. Kevin Kerrigan from Steam Cleaning Services.
In 2011, R15 100 was donated to the Igazi Foundation and in 2012, an amount of R16 803.25 was donated once again to the Igazi Foundation. Amazing impact a small business owner’s life has made on society.
