A Port Elizabeth man is expected to appear in court soon after he was treated for a gunshot wound, which he sustained after shooting at police officers over the weekend.
According to Port Elizabeth police, on Saturday, the Port Elizabeth Flying Squad responded to a complaint of suspects in possession of firearms in the Bethelsdorp area.
On arrival, the suspects noticed the police and pointed a firearm at the officers and fired at them. The officers returned fire, injuring one suspect in the arm.
“The other suspect managed to get away,” police said.
“The suspect was arrested for possession of unlicenced firearm, attempted murder and and pointing of firearm.
“A 9mm pistol with its serial number filled off and seven live rounds of ammunition were seized.
“The suspects was detained at SAPS Bethelsdorp after receiving medical treatment and will appear in court soon.”
