Mabena’s strike helped knock the Premiership champions out of the MTN8 last weekend.
And while the forward endured a mediocre campaign with Orlando Pirates last term, he insists he does not feel under pressure to reassert his worth at Dikwena.
“I really do not have anything to prove to anyone,” Mabena tells KickOff.com.
“All I want is to help the club to win as many matches as possible and retain the trophies that they won last season.”
Asked how many League goals he would like to score this season, Mabena responds: “I am not really setting targets for myself as a striker, in terms of the number of goals I would like to score.
“The important thing is for us to win matches. If I can help the club to win then I will be happy. This is more important than scoring goals and setting personal targets.
“I was inspired to join Platinum Stars by the desire to help the club achieve more success.”
Mabena adds that the friendly atmosphere among his teammates has helped him to settle in Rustenburg.
Stars, the MTN8 and Telkom Knockout holders, will play their opening Premiership match against Chippa United at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Saturday.
