Early on Friday morning, 13 March, alert members of the Mount Road SAPS arrested a 27 year old suspect for possession of suspected stolen property and theft out of motor vehicle.
The members were busy with patrols in the area of North End when they noticed the suspect pushing a trolley. The members approached the suspect and questioned him about the property he was pushing in the trolley. The suspect claimed it was given to him by a church in North End. This information was followed up and the suspect then changed his version saying that he had picked up the sound amplifier system to the value of R45 000.00 outside the church.
The members traced the Pastor of the church and he confirmed that he had an amplifier in a box in his motor vehicle. The Pastor went to his vehicle and discovered that the amplifier was stolen. The suspect was arrested and detained on charges of possession of suspected stolen property. A case of theft out of motor vehicle was also opened and will form part of the investigation. The suspect will appear in the Port Elizabeth New Law Courts on Monday 16 March 2015.
