A local salesman came to the rescue of a teenager who was robbed of his bicycle by two men on Thursday 06 February.
At about 15h15, ADT Security Sales Consultant, Elroy Moolman, was driving along Cape Road in the direction of Sunridge Park when he saw two men and Zandre Langley at the side of the road. Moolman became suspicious of the pair, when he noticed them pointing at the boy, and decided to investigate.
Ryan Britz, Manager of ADT Security’s Port Elizabeth Branch, said the layout of the roads meant the salesman had to drive into Sunridge Park to reach them.
“When Elroy reached the scene, at the little bush-path between the bowling club and the N2, he found the shaken schoolboy who explained that the men had fled with his bicycle. Fortunately Zandre was not injured. Elroy advised him to remain at the vehicle and set off on foot in search of the suspects.”
Britz says Elroy spotted the suspects on the other side of the N2 interchange and continued to follow them. The pair abandoned the bicycle and disappeared into the bushes near the Quarry.
“We are glad that Zandre was not harmed during the incident, and that Elroy was able to return his bicycle to him. We are also very proud of our colleague who followed his instincts and could assist.”
