With the increase in violent crimes in the Eastern Cape, local artists have taken it upon themselves to use art to keep kids away from a life of crime.
On 11 October, 2013 the community of Kwazakhele will host an arts extravaganza including cultural dance, poetry and hip-hop.
This multi-discipline event known as “Ngena Nayo Fusion” is aimed at affording up-and-coming artists from the township an opportunity to showcase their talents to their own communities. It will highlight the fact that the Metro is rich with a great deal of art and talent.
Organiser, Odwa Mngini expressed excitement about the event, saying that his vision of preventing the youth from leading a life on the streets is starting to bear fruit. He established his arts and entertainment company, Mngini Productions in 2009 for this purpose.
With minimum resources at his disposal Mngini has managed to gather talented young people from different backgrounds and empower them with skills in dance, poetry, music and drama.
He believes his event will provide the public with a memorable piece of entertainment.
Tickets are available at R40 (adults) and R20 (children) from Shoprite Checkers opposite Khalipha Senzangabom hall or on the day at the door of Khalipha Senzangabobi Community Hall with the show starting at 18h00 on Friday, 11 October 2013.
