The Annual Liefie Bosch Memorial Autumn Trial was run on Sunday, April 23, with 19 competitors taking part.
This closed odometer time trial, run under the auspices of the Eastern Province Veteran Car Club (EPVCC), covered around 110 km leaving from Rowallan Park driving towards Hankey, then onto the Gamtoos River, up the old pass towards Thornhill, before finishing at Cow’s Corner.
Participants from Port Elizabeth were accompanied by others from Grahamstown, Port Alfred and East London.
The event was won by Rodney and Ruth Idris, driving a 1951 Morris Minor, second place went to Wiehan van Onselen, with Chante van Zyl as navigator in a 1960 Volvo 544, and third place going to John Martin and Malcolm Gobby in a 1954 Chevrolet.

Editor’s Notes: Ruth was most excited and proud of the win and quipped that she was glad to be accompanying Rodney in his girlfriend older than her!
