Discover the freedom and beauty of dance with a showcase of Classical Contemporary, African and Jazz Dance at the Port Elizabeth Opera House on 21 and 22 September.
To the pointe is brought to you by the award winning choreographer Candice Johnstone, who has choreographed such memorable big scale local productions as The King and I, Evita, Chicago, Cabaret, Fiddler on the Roof, Footloose, Guys Dolls, High School Musical, Oklahoma, and in 2012 – Evita again. We have come to expect a quality production from Johnstone and her past studio shows entitled Dancers at Work, Dancers et Haute Couture and I have a Dream bear testimony to this excellence. From the costumes, to the lighting, to the choice of music she challenges her young performers with her exacting and beautiful choreography.
This new show – aptly entitled “To the Pointe” with music by Il Divo, Adam Lambert, Andre Rieu and Michael Bublè to name just a few, is guaranteed to enthrall lovers of dance and theatre. To the pointe promotes a group of talent that can be found amongst the young dancers of the Candice Johnstone Dance Academy, and provides them with a first rate platform to develop their love of dance performance.
To the pointe is just over an hour long with no interval – and with the promise of excellence guaranteed by her previous productions, you can expect to be treated to a beautiful display.
