Healthy nation a successful one
WE seriously need to jack up the way we look at health. A nation is judged by its success in every sphere, and if you want a top producer and economic powerhouse, look no further than healthy citizens.
Teachers treated badly
IT’s not surprising that 70% of those readers polled felt teaching should be declared an essential service and teachers prohibited from striking, but it’s likely they never experienced short pay, no pay, theft of salaries, lousy working conditions, pathetic increases and incompetent management at all levels.

IN response to Kazeka Mashologu Kuse’s column, “If maid wants the salary, she must earn the money” (February 14), I discern a form of generalisation in the content.

THE editorial comment of The Herald, as well as that of many other newspapers, often refers to the lack of service delivery. We read how whole communities protest against a lack of free housing, the lack of policing, corruption, etc.
Not Kolbe involved in scam
I AM writing to you to clarify the identity of the George Kolbe mentioned in the article, “Pensioners tell of scam heartache” (February 7). Unfortunately this has caused some confusion and my family, who live in Port Elizabeth, are being asked whether this is a relative or not.
