Kwanobuhle Clean Up

26 August 2015 By MyPortElizabeth

Police have recovered large amounts of cash and Mandrax valued at R82 000, during Operation Fiela in KwaNobuhle, Port Elizabeth.

Police also arrested two men in their early thirties for possession of these drugs.

“The community of KwaNobuhle was surprised to find the area saturated by law enforcement agencies and realised that Operation Fiela was in town. Search warrants were obtained to search several identified premises,” regional police spokesperson Colonel Sibongile Soci said.

Three motorists, aged between 22 and 36, were arrested for driving a motor vehicle under the influence of liquor; additionally, more than 120 traffic fines to the value of R42 300 were issued for offences varying from driving a motor vehicle without a licence to driving vehicles that were not roadworthy.

Three foreign nationals were found with expired permits.

On the evening of 22 August 2015, similar operations were conducted in Kirkwood and Addo.

Eighteen foreign nationals were found without permits and another five with expired permits.

A 36-year-old man was arrested during a stop and search operation, for possession of 7.53kg of Dagga to the street value of R7 500.

The dagga and vehicle, according to Soci were seized as it was discovered that the engine number was tampered with.

Three liquor outlets were closed for dealing in liquor without licences, while 84 traffic fines for various traffic offences valued at R45 900 were also issued.
