Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune has expressed joy at donning the gold and black of Amakhosi jersey and to be playing football again.
“It is always a great feeling for any player to be back on the field. Running through the tunnel and to smell the pitch grass is like opening your office door,” Khune told the club’s official website.
“We spend most of our time on the pitch, it’s like an office for us. The welcome from the stands was warm hence I felt comfortable during the match. We always want to reward the supporters.”
Khune marked his return to the Chiefs starting line-up by keeping a clean sheet in Amakhosi’s 0-0 draw against Chippa United at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Sunday.
“We are happy we collected a point. We have to work hard to match the club success of the past. We played well as a team. We were unfortunate to draw the match. We will have to double our efforts going forward.”
“It is all about the teamwork. Chiefs is not about individual performances.
“I’m happy to be back in the team and to start with a clean sheet is encouraging,” concluded Khune.
