Judge to reveal why Chris Panayiotou’s bail was denied
The man accused of orchestrating his wife’s murder will today learn why his bail application was rejected.
Panayiotou is accused of orchestrating his wife Jayde’s kidnapping and murder in April.
Jayde was kidnapped from outside her apartment complex while waiting for a lift to work.
Her body was found the following day near the Kwanobuhle township.
Magistrate Abigail Beeton is today expected to reveal why she turned down his bail application.
Panayiotou is likely to appeal Beeton’s decision to deny him bail, but is expected to do so only after the magistrate gives reasons for her decision.
Last Friday Beeton said Panayiotou’s legal team failed to prove exceptional circumstances for him to be released on bail.
They had to do so because the businessman is charged with a schedule six offense, premeditated murder.
Panayiotou is scheduled to appear in court again next Friday, along with the two men he allegedly hired to kill his wife.
