The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality’s Joint Operations Centre will be in operation for the weekend as the South African Weather Service predicts light rain from midnight that will grow in intensity by tomorrow morning around 10am.
Since Wednesday, 17 October when the rain started the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality’s Disaster Management Officers assisted almost 1500 vulnerable residents from areas such as Missionvale, Motherwell, KwaNobuhle, Greenbushes, New Brighton, Arcadia amongst others.

Donations: We would like to thank Sasko Bakery for donating 500 loaves of bread daily, Star Bakery for the once off donation of 560 loaves of bread, Star Bakery for another once off donation of 200 loaves of bread, Marthie Nel for her once off donation of 100 loaves of bread and Danny Harning and Cllr Marion Harning for their contribution of 34 loaves of bread. These generous contributions will now be used at the many relief centres around Nelson Mandela Bay.
Due to the localized flooding, the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality would like to advise motorists to be extremely careful and adhere to safe following distances when driving as the road conditions can be dangerous.
