What’s there to celebrate?
TOMORROW is June 16, Youth Day, and will be another excuse for much celebrating countrywide, with politicians “remembering the youth uprising of 1976”, and generally partying and celebrating. The ANCYL will be holding huge demonstrations and there will be much waving of placards.

WE have come a long way since thousands of young men and women, united in their cause, joined hands and waged an ambitious battle against a heavy-handed apartheid government. The 1976 generation occupies a special place in our history and its members continue to play leading roles in the transformation of society.
