The Nelson Mandela Bay Business Chamber has spoken strongly about the delays in the Integrated Public Transport System (IPTS) in Nelson Mandela Bay, saying it is discouraging investment in the city.
This comes after the municipality said the implementation phase of the much-awaited IPTS would start in September.
The pilot phase was scheduled to start on July 1.
Chamber CEO Kevin Hustler said the chamber advocated a two-pronged approach.
“Firstly, the chamber calls for all parties, including taxi owners and the Algoa Bus Company, to be properly consulted.
Secondly, we believe strongly that the infrastructure should not limit access to deliveries, customers or clients.
“We make this appeal on behalf of property owners and businesses operating in the Govan Mbeki area and on Kempston Road,” he said.
