I drove through to Uitenhage Traffic department today to collect my wife’s renewed drivers license.
Only to find out that the cubical assigned for the purpose was shut
No, it’s not because of the strike action or lunch break, but because the lady who operates the section had gone home and there was no one else to assist.
Now here comes the interesting part……
There were about 15 people waiting and amongst us some elderly ladies from PE (they were not the only ones who had come through from PE).
I proceeded to investigate and finally got hold of a Mrs Visagie who was at the time supervising a learner test exam.
She was most courteous and gave me the name of the Chief Licensing Officer a Mr Sijaji. I called him on 041-9952737 only to get a voice message
Another gentleman who was with us then tried to phone a Mr Terblanche on 041-4021009/ and also 402 1000, also no success
Now the challenge is, do we attempt to drive out there again tomorrow, and receive the same treatment, as I believe from two of the Traffic Law Enforcement officers whom we spoke to that this is not the first time its happened.
To those officials who tried to pacify the crowd, Thank You, you cared.
Is Uncle Ben able to deliver the renewed license cards to the two elderly ladies who travelled that far?
