Seven cars were broken into last night at the Railway Flats off Ferguson Road, New Brighton. Six of these vehicles had there windows smashed in (apparently a “sparkplug” kind of method – that causes the windows to break rapidly) and the seventh vehicle had its tires removed.
The 3 robbers were then spotted by the Railway Flats security as they were busy throwing the wheels over a boundary wall of the flats. Unfortunately the robbers got away.
Of concern is that the police were contacted at 03:20 to assist (1011) and the police (male and female) only arrived on the scene at 04:25 from the New Brighton Police Station (not far from the flats). The upset residents then challenged the police that they were paying taxes for services such as the police service, upon which the rude policeman then retorted “we also pay taxes and we only have one vehicle”.
Is this true? And if true – what did this police vehicle do during the time when the crime was reported.
The police took no photos, and NO details of the vehicles broken in to!
