A brave Port Elizabeth woman fired several shots in a Blue Horizon Bay house forcing two robbery suspects to flee empty-handed.
Police said the incident happened on Friday night when two men gained entry to a house in Beach Road at around 10 pm.
Spokesperson, Warrant Officer Alwin Labans, said a 64-year-old man and his fiance’ were preparing to retire for the night when the men came in.
The complainant struggled with one of the suspects while the woman fled into a room and was pursued by the other man.
Labans said as he tried to gain entry to the room the woman warned him that she was armed and then fired two shots through the bedroom door.
He said she then went into the passage where the man was still struggling with the other suspect and fired a third shot, causing the two flee.
“The man suffered a minor stab wound,” said Labans.
In another house-robbery in Seaview on Friday night two balaclava-clad men tied up a 36-year-old man before robbing him and his family of electronic equipment and jewellery before fleeing.
Police are investigating a case of house robbery and one of attempted house robbery.
