James Okwuosa has returned to Port Elizabeth after training with Highlands Park at the start of the new year in search of a new deal.
Following his release from Chippa United, as part of the changes that have taken place at the club for the second half of the season, the Nigerian defender travelled to Gauteng for training with Owen da Gama’s team.
However, the centre-back has not been signed by the club, with the news confirmed to the Siya crew by the player himself.
During his first spell with the Chilli Boys, after joining the club from Ajax Cape Town (first on loan in 2012 and then permanently in 2013), Okwuosa went on to play close to 100 matches for the Chilli Boys – a club record to date for most appearances by any player in the team’s history – before earning a big move to Orlando Pirates in January 2017.
However, the move did not work well for the player, due to a lack of game-time. On his return to Chippa in 2017, the 28-year-old struggled for regular game-time, which led to him parting ways with the club.
