CAPE TOWN – The Springboks are in blistering form in their match against Scotland at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth, leading 19-6 at the halftime break.
Bok flanker Marcell Coetzee powered his way past two Scottish defenders to score the first try of the match after just four minutes.
IRB Junior Player of the Year Handre Pollard slotted the conversion to pick up his first points as a full Springbok international.
Scottish flyhalf Duncan Weir responded with a penalty almost instantly to get the Scots on the board, but their joy was short lived as two quick-fire tries from Willie Le Roux and Lwazi Mvovo stretched the Boks’ lead to 19-3 with just 17 minutes gone.
The alarm bells were ringing for the Scots, who rallied defensively to shore up their ranks and restrict the Boks to a few half chances, the most notable of which saw Mvovo fumble a Jan Serfontein attempted offload with the line beckoning after 33 minutes.
Weir slotted a long range penalty just before halftime to reduce the deficit to 19-6.
