On Saturday the 29th November, we were treated to a beautiful carols by candlelight event, held at the Grootendorst home in Melsetter Road, Lovemore Heights.
Every year we are blessed with beautiful light displays provided by the Grootendorst family, each year bigger and better than the year before.
This year a special ‘Grand Illumination’ was arranged, with the Eastern Cape junior Children’s Choir adding their special musical expertise to the evening, under the baton of Hanlie Young and accompanied by Lilian Zeelie on the piano and flute.
The lights were officially turned on by our resident, award winning Estate agent, Kobie Potgieter. Five minutes into the extravaganza, Eskoms plans to put a dampener on the evening were foiled, as Warwick Dickie, Managing Director of Cherry Industrial, was at the ready to save the evening with a sponsored generator.
With elves and father Christmas in attendance, the Grootendorst family have become known for their generosity and spoil our community every year with the lights and sweat treats from their Grootendorst Bakery. Each year passersby have enquired where they could leave a donation and each year they are told that the family put on the display for the community and that it is better to give than to receive. This year Henk and Lila were alerted to a family in need. Tristan, was born on the 22nd April, 2014 with a medical condition
