The news that EP Cricket was to rename the Centenary Pavilion to the Graeme Pollock Pavilion was sent out as a press release by the hard working Leigh Deyzel yesterday at 3:35 pm.
Emblazoned in her e-mail and in the release (in thick red CAPITAL letters) was a polite request for an embargo on the article until 6:00 am this morning.
EMBARGOED TO WEDNESDAY 06:00AM PLEASE NOTE THE EMBARGO INCLUDES ALL SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS
Of course the desire to publish immediately is great, especially for local publishers who have been rooting for the great man to be honoured with the Graeme Pollock Pavilion. But, the internet is a small place and one wants to show respect to EP Cricket.
Unfortunately one publisher slipped up – I see now that the ‘early release’ has subsequently been deleted, though.
