The Boardwalk is at the epicenter for the IRONMAN® 70.3 World Championship this weekend. Visitors can access The Boardwalk via the 2nd Avenue entrance on both race days, Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 September 2018. The Boardwalk’s customers will have exclusive parking throughout the weekend.
“There will be music and other activities throughout the day and all The Boardwalk’s restaurants and outlets will be open. So, bring the family down to cheer on the athletes,” encourages The Boardwalk’s Nqobile Majozi.
With athletes’ safety in mind, there is full road closure along the race route from 05h00 on Saturday, 1 September and Sunday, 2 September. All roads connecting along Walmer Boulevard, Heugh Road and Buffelsfontein Road will be closed. Full road closure is adopted for all roads connecting into the route from Mount Pleasant to Kini Bay and back to the start/ finish point at Hobie Beach. The public is urged to look-out for information signs along the route and visit www.nelsonmandelabay.gov.za for detailed information on affected roads and intersections.
Registration for IRONMAN® participants has begun at The Boardwalk which is also home to the IRONMAN® Village, Official IRONMAN® Store and other services.
