It is not called the silly season for nothing and The Boardwalk is diving right in and calling on the public to participate in the madness this December. On 3 December, visitors to The Boardwalk are invited to participate in the biggest Mannequin Challenge The Bay has ever seen.
In addition to the Mannequin challenge, there will be a “Macarena into the Festive Season” challenge and a 3D Tag challenge, which will see the people with the most shares/retweets of their 3D art photo on The Boardwalk‘s facebook/twitter pages, using the official hashtag #BoardwalkGoes3D, win awesome cash prizes.
Festivities will kick off at the Wimpy forecourt at 15h00 when the first, one minute Mannequin Challenge will take place. The first 100 participants to arrive will get themselves a R50 Boardwalk gift card, but they must get there between 14h00 to 14h45 to qualify for the gift card.
“We are hoping to get a large group of visitors to The Boardwalk to participate in what has become the latest craze on the net, the Mannequin Challenge. This is like the age old children’s party game of musical statues but on steroids.
“When the music starts, all participants will freeze, as best they can, for 60 seconds. This moment be captured by our videographers and photographers and be posted on The Boardwalk’s social media platforms.
“One minute of fun is not nearly enough though,” says Vuyiswa King, Events and Entertainment Manager of The Boardwalk, “so we have added another two crazy challenges, more opportunities to win as well as a host of entertainment for the day.”
Next up will be the “Macarena into the festive season” challenge, led by professional dancers. The crowd, all grooving to the ever-popular song, the Macarena, will form the largest flash mob The Boardwalk has ever hosted.
Last but not least is the “3D and Tag” Challenge and the chance to win some cash. The Boardwalk has had three 3D virtual reality displays, depicting scenes, which guests can step into on display since 20 November. To win this challenge, guests will need to take a selfie or photo by any one of the three 3D virtual scenes will be located at The Boardwalk’s 2nd Avenue Entrance, the Craft Centre and at the Marine Drive Entrance to The Boardwalk.
Once the selfie or photo is taken, visitors need to post it on Facebook or Twitter, ensuring they tag The Boardwalk using the hashtag #BoardwalkGoes3D. The three photos to receive the most shares or retweets between the 3rd and 12th December will win; the first prize being R2 500, the second prize R1 500 and the third prize R1 000. It is crucial that participants register for this challenge in order for The Boardwalk to contact them once the winners have been announced. Winners will be announced on Facebook and Twitter on 15th December and will be contacted telephonically. Registrations for the 3D tag challenge will take place at Wimpy Forecourt, after the first 2 challenges on the day. Live entertainment will continue until 18h00 to keep visitors entertained.
Do not miss out on loads of outrageous fun at The Boardwalk this December. Any participant younger than 18 must have their parent/guardian available to sign their entry-form as well as sign the receipt of prize money and give permission for publicity should they win.
