I wonder if we have lost the plot in terms of addressing the unemployment pandemic?
I see so many government press releases that emphasise that ‘such and such’ a project will contribute X number of jobs – all make glowing references to job creation and entrepreneurship development but none make reference to the long term stability and profitability of the said enterprise.
As we are all aware, in the case of government, stability and profitability come from the public purse – no-one in government cares about profits. It is almost as if a ‘caring government’ is one that only demonstrates the ability to re-distribute charity using taxpayer money received from other hard working, profitable, taxpaying businesses.
When is government going to realise that profitability has a direct influence on the amount of tax received – more tax leads to more gravy in the trough for pigs to wallow in!
