Police in Addo have worked around the clock to successfully apprehend four suspects who were allegedly involved in a house robbery on Tuesday evening, 21 June 2016 at a guesthouse in Addo.
It is alleged that the 76-year-old victim heard a loud noise at about 22:05 outside his room and went to investigate. The victim was approached by two unknown males and he was allegedly hit over the head with an iron bar by a third suspect. It is further alleged that the suspects entered the room and took electronic equipment, clothing, cellphones, etc. and fled on foot. Neighbors’ alerted the police and the victim was admitted to a hospital in Uitenhage.
Detectives followed up on leads and the four suspects, aged between 19 and 37 years were apprehended in the early hours of this morning at about 05:30, Thursday, 23 June 2016 in the residential area of Nomathamsanqa, Addo. Several of the stolen items were found in their possession. They will appear in the Addo Regional Court on Monday, 27 June 2016, facing charges of house robbery.
