Five men were arrested for stock theft in King William’s Town this morning.
Police spokesman, Lieutenant Siphokazi Mawisa, said the men were arrested shortly after 1am, when members of Flying Squad who were busy with routine patrols in King Williams Town area spotted two suspicious vehicles.
She said they had been patrolling in Thomas Street, King Williams Town when they spotted the vehicles with their boots open. When the officers investigated they found eight sheep, two of which were still alive and six already slaughtered.
Mawisa said further investigation had revealed that the sheep had been stolen in the Alice area by the suspects.
All five men, aged between 19 and 33, who came from Zwelitsha and Mdantsane, were arrested and charged with stock theft. They will appear at King Williams Town Magistrate Court on Monday.
