Port Elizabeth based Eveready took top honours at an award ceremony in East London last night. It won the Eastern Cape ‘top green organisation award 2012 for a medium organisation with a high environmental impact’ award.
Award by the Institute of Waste Management of South Africa as well as the Eastern Cape Department of Economic Development and Environmental Affairs. This recognition is a reflection of the Eveready commitment to the environment both through its products and business practices. Johan Ferreira, Eveready manufacturing director said of the win: “Our product range includes the globally leading micro wind turbines from Kestrel as well as the assembly of energy saving lighting products. Our processes include benchmark reduction in electricity usage as well as a new finger jointing process which ensures that House of York, one of our leading brands manufactures wooden products with minimal waste.”
