Did you also wonder why you ‘escaped’ load shedding this weekend?
On Sunday 26 July 2015 we found ourselves once again ‘escaping’ the scheduled Group 2 load shedding.
Phoning the 041 374 4434 number for the Electricity Department just resulted in a pre-recorded message saying that the number is busy.
Mailing the Communications staff at the Nelson Mandela Bay Metropolitan Municipality resulted in situation normal – No Answer at all.
There is NO information on the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality Facebook or Twitter pages.
A question posed via Twitter – Could the @NMBmunicipality please tell me why Group 7 had no scheduled load shedding yesterday and today? The Electricity no. remains busy – remains unanswered
A question posed via Facebook – Is there a reason why Group 7 has NOT experienced scheduled Load Shedding for two days now? As happy an event as that is I would not like someone else to suffer because of an oversight. – remains unanswered.
A call to 0800 20 50 50 finally revealed the reason – a bright and efficient operator told me that the reason why we have no load shedding is because the staff of entire Nelson Mandela Bay Metropolitan Municipality’s Electricity Department is on strike so there is no-one to switch off Groups for load shedding.
Apparently parts of Zwide, New Brighton, Uitenhage and Seaview are without electricity and there are no staff available to switch people back on. How embarrassing for our citizens, politicians and administrators!
