July 30 marks the tenth anniversary of the SECKO Karate Championships that will once again be hosted at the Fish River Sun.
Competitors and experts expecting to take part in this championship come from East London, King William’s Town, Fort Beaufort, Grahamstown, Port Alfred, Kenton on Sea, Plettenberg Bay, Uitenhage, Despatch, Port Elizabeth, Somerset East, Cradock and Middelberg says Gary Grapentin the event organiser.
The championship has grown to become one of the largest annual by invitation only all-style karate events in the Eastern Cape. More than 350 karateka will be competing, says Grapentin.
This event will take place on Saturday, July 30 where all-styles, ages and all belts will compete in categories held across six tatami arenas. The top three in each category will receive medals, while the winners of the men’s and ladies black belt kata and kumite categories will receive Japanese katana sword trophies.
The first categories will commence at 08:30.
Spectators are welcome.
Entry fees are: Adults: R30 (18+); under 18’s R20. Children five and under: No charge.
