Du Preez was replaced by Francois Hougaard in the first half of South Africa’s 55-6 victory at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.
According to the SA Rugbymag website, Du Preez was seen leaving the stadium on crutches after undergoing X-rays on Saturday night, but it is understood that he will undergo proper scans on Monday.
It is reported that team doctor Craig Roberts is worried about a bone in Du Preez’s ankle, which may be split.
The injury could rule Du Preez out of the Rugby Championship, which starts for the Boks with a Test against Argentina in Pretoria on August 16.
Du Preez, who plays his club rugby for Japanese club, Suntory Sungoliath, will not be available for all the Bok Tests in the Rugby Championship, so the injury could disrupt those plans even further…
