After featuring the disabled parking miscreants at the Acres Shopping Centre in Perridgevale too many times to mention I was extremely heartened to observe that the management of the Acres Spar went to the trouble of blocking the disabled parkings off with traffic cones – Once again, well done guys for caring.
And, before you ask; “Well then, how are the disabled supposed to get in?” – may I point out that the security guards and Spar employees in the car park will move the traffic cones for the disabled when they spot a disabled sticker.
My story goes like this:
On Saturday evening at around 5:00 pm the Longhair and I toodled off to the Acres Spar. I left my camera and tablet behind not expecting to come across any disabled parking miscreants in light of the fact that Acres now ‘protect’ their disabled parkings. Boy was I wrong!
Walking into Acres Spar I observed a black Tata, registration number, DSP 270 EC starting to reverse out of the LHS disabled parking and I automatically checked to see if he was displaying a disabled sticker, which he was not. To make matters worse this doozy also reversed against the stream of traffic in order to take a shortcut out of the parking. My loud comment of “Idiot and Miscreant” did reach his ears and he proceeded to throw a stream of invective my way and responded to my suggestion of a heart to heart chat by returning to the scene of the crime and taking up the disabled parking space again and leaping out of the car in order to occupy the space 5 centimetres from my nose.
Not very disabled of him you will agree.
I patiently pointed out to him that he did not have a disabled sticker displayed. His shrewish companion then informed me that she had a heart condition and would I like to speak to her doctor. Strange, she never did phone him on my request. Then I slipped into my well oiled patient mantra of “Sir, No Sticker, No Park”, “Sir, No Sticker, No Park”, “Sir, No Sticker, No Park”. And I got thrown with excuses like, “We have applied for a sticker” But, he couldn’t produce the application. Then I got hit with, “Who do you think you are” and “We have permission from the owner of the Spar”. Again they couldn’t produce the written permission.
I was joined in my fight for the rights of the disabled by one of the Spar employees who agreed with me that this particular miscreant had indeed forced his way into the parking and told the employee to “Farg OFF”. And then it started getting interesting with our miscreant getting into the face of the employee and looking for a fight, then returning to me and screaming at me for putting a hand on his car. Then he refused to get into his car and leave when I politely opened the door for him. The shrew threatened to phone the police but probably forgot how to spell 10111 as she never completed the call.
All the while people were walking past in amazement at the antics of our miscreant as he proved again and again that he was actually MENTALLY disabled.
One shopper engaged the Longhair in conversation, only to find out that I was her husband and then said; “Bless him for standing up for other people’s rights”.
Now you have your chance to stand up for the rights of others as I encourage you to repost this article, Like, Tweet and Google Plus it as much as you can so that we can send a message to idiots everywhere that if we allow them to trample on the rights of others that we will soon be on the road to anarchy.
Eventually the miscreant decided to leave and, once again, reversed out against the stream of traffic and did what all cowards do as he saw the coast was clear – Displaying his middle finger he likened the Spar employee and I to certain body parts and Afrikaans four sided boxes who need to Fornicate Under the Consent of the King.
