On the night of 9 June 2016, members of the SAPS intervention team performing duties under Operation Lockdown successfully executed a search warrant at a house in Tshangisa Steet Kwanoxolo, Bethelsdorp. A 40 year old woman was arrested and police confiscated 1950 mandrax tablets and a large amount of cash. The estimated street value of the tablets is R97 500.
The suspect is expected to appear in court soon.
Good community policing includes eradicating the sale of drugs as well as arresting and charging major drug lords. The SAPS is committed to closing all avenues for drug dealers and syndicates.
“The SAPS continues on our mission to root out the illicit trade of drugs in the Northern Areas of PE. We will ensure that these criminals have no safe havens. We call on communities to continue providing tip offs to the police in order to make their neighbourhoods safer,” said the Cluster Commander, Major General Dawie Rabie
