Pretoria – Mamelodi Sundowns left-back Teboho Langerman has admitted that his team-mates are disappointed after conceding their Absa Premiership crown to Kaizer Chiefs.
Chiefs sealed their fourth PSL title when they humbled Polokwane City 4-1 at FNB Stadium on Wednesday, while the Brazilians played to a 1-1 stalemate against Platinum Stars at Lucas Moripe Stadium – which signalled the end of their title ambitions.
After sharing the spoils with Dikwena, Langerman said the Pretoria giants are now focusing on finishing as runners-up when the season reaches its climax next month.
The 28-year-old defender also hinted that they have accepted that the title is gone and they will try to compete for the crown again in the 2015/16 season.
“Firstly I want to thank our supporters for coming out in numbers to back us,” said Langerman.
“We know it’s very disappointing not to win at the end.
“So for now we’ll settle for the draw (against Stars) because we are now focusing on finishing in second spot.
“Obviously it’s very disappointing not to defend our title because we wanted it so badly.
“It’s one of those football moments, it happens to everyone.
“For now we just have to accept that and try again next season.”
The Phefeni Glamour Boys will be handed their league trophy after their final game of the season against Chippa United at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on May 9.
